The
Fred Holden Trophy, a handicapped competition held in honour of the man who
probably did more for this league than any other player in its history, will
be run as usual in groups.
All the
groups are listed below and these will be run as small leagues with each
team playing the other teams in their group once, if there are only two
teams in a group they play each other home and away. The top team in each
group when all matches are finished then goes into the knock-out stage, this
then continues down to the final.
Before
each round the handicaps for every player will be updated. If you lose a
match don’t start moaning that so and so has got your handicap wrong,
remember your handicap is directly linked to the current form in the league,
it could be that you played below par or your opponent played exceptionally
well. Also note that players
must have played in at least six league
games to be eligible to play in the cup semi finals, a point overlooked by a
couple of teams a few seasons ago with disastrous consequences.
Also note that in the preliminary round teams must play with three players
unless there are only two teams in the group, cancelled matches must be
played the following week. Matches cannot be claimed or given during the
preliminary round.
