A WELCOME FROM THE FIXTURES SECRETARY

Dear All

May I take this opportunity to welcome your team to the East Lancashire Table Tennis League for the 2008-9 season. In this seasons booklet you should find all the information needed to compete in, and thoroughly enjoy this coming season. This season we hope to boost our league numbers from 37 to 40 to give us four divisions of ten.

PLEASE NOTE THAT TEAMS PLAYING AT THE TT CENTRE WILL NEED TO COMMENCE
MATCHES BY 7.15pm AS THE SPORTS CENTRE WILL BE CLOSED EARLY.

Changes to the handicaps will again be made using the ranking system, and an updated set of handicaps will be released before the first preliminary round of the Fred Holden Cup takes place. If your team are intending playing someone without a handicap in the first preliminary round, they MUST first have played at least one league match this season. Please note that the handicap matches are still played up to 21, and the maximum start, as last season, is 18.

Every effort should be made to return all score cards to me during the week the matches are played, this gives me the chance to update the league and merit tables and pass them to John Leech, who updates the web site and to Ged Simpson, who writes a report and sends copies to the Accrington Observer, Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Rossendale Free Press, Burnley Express, Nelson Leader, Colne Times and the Clitheroe Advertiser, Teams that play from the Hyndburn Regional Table Tennis Centre can leave their cards in the box below the wall safe, please don’t put them in the safe.

The Merit tables will work as last season a victory of 3v2 will count as 60% for the victor and 40% for the loser, 3v1 would be 75% for the victor and 25% to the loser, 3v0 will still count as 100% to the victor and 0% to the loser.

May I take this opportunity to introduce you to our committee:
